Chinch bugs are a common pests found in our Florida lawns. These pests feed on grass and plants and inject a toxin that interferes with the turf’s ability to retrieve moisture and nutrients from the soil. The result is wilting and damage, and the turf will have spots of grass that has turned yellow. Other insects such as leatherjackets (the larval stage of crane flies or daddy longlegs) and chafer grubs (larvae of the chafer beetle) feed on grass roots, causing ongoing damage.
